From the Middle of Nowhere

I am at a Mac in a tent in the middle of the Pennsylvania mountains. Not too many opportunities to snag wi-fi around here, so I’m grateful for this one as I sit in front a fan. The temperature reached about ninety degrees today and I have the sweetest farmers tan you’ve ever seen.

Maybe I’ll get some pictures to ya later this week after I get home Sunday. Of course, I’ve walked about 30 miles in the past day from all the appointments with musicians, trips to the photo pit for live shows, and the trek back to camp where my wonderful lunch meats and cheeses chill in a sun-hot cooler.

Jealous?

Many people would consider this torture. Camping isn’t for everyone including me, but I can deal with anything when music’s involved. At least they have hot showers for us. Bathing in a tractor trailer is a brilliant invention and I commend the inventor of that fine innovation.

Rain expected tomorrow, so it may get muddy but I’m not stopping until the massive fireworks display sends us outta here on Saturday night.

I also have many awesome photos. Some of you know these artists well, some not so much. Either way, I’m documenting the experience as best I can. A few of the shots are up on my Facebook wall. If you’d like to see those just visit the Contact page and friend me.

In the meantime here’s a question to send you off with. I like the Friday Flick Faceoff from time to time and would love to hear ideas from you on what themes you would like to see. We’ve done football, horror, Bill Murray and many more. What do you got? Also, let me know if you would like to write the topic you choose! Either way, I’d love to hear from you in the comments. See you on Facebook :-)

What movie themes/categories would you like to see in the future?

My idea maker is pudding this late in the day. Scratch that. How about remakes? I don’t know if I’d be willing to write it or not. I think I’d need help on the research.

The music part would make the camping bearable. Can’t wait to view your pictures. :D

Sounds like you’re having fun! My suggestions for movie themes/categories are the following:
    1) musicals
    2) cheesy end-of-the-world
    3) neighbors
    4) pets
    5) writing/writers
    6) New York
    7) western 8) tv series star in a film
    9) disabilities
    10) best ‘guy thats in all those movies’ whose name nobody ever remembers

Guess you caught me on a good day, I actually have an idea floating around up there. :) Since I am a new reader to your blog, apologies if there are categories you’ve already covered. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I like all of these! Love the cheesy end-of-the-world theme. :) That could take up two posts!

I throw out another one. How about noir?

Porn? Just sayin’. Not that I watch it, but it’d be fun to read about. (I did watch ONE movie with my two good friends in 1985. Hilarious. We ate chips and laughed.)

    Movies set in foreign lands?
    Dysfunction Junction flicks?
Best movies to watch more than 5 times?
Movies whose settings make me swoon?
Best sequels? (I’m tempted to say this is oxymoronic, but there are some)
Bad mothers in movies? (this comes to mind after I was out with Trish Thursday night. She once again explained who “Leanne” was. I think Ironic Mom came up. Calgary Herald. He said, “Oh, the bad mother?” We laughed over that one, all right.
    Movies with Colin Firth?
    I’ll stop now. Maybe.
Welcome back to the real world. Let us know when you come down!

I wish I was camping and jamming with you – always wanted to go there, just haven’t got around to it.

What about a movie about normal people, living normal lives, in an average house with a regular job? But maybe they have a secret that’s come back to haunt them.

I’ve also got a movie plot in my head form the Bon Jovi song Blood on Blood. really good idea, just need to get Jon to sign off on it.

    Star trek movies.

    There are 11 of them.

    Just sayin’.

You’ve studied the films of Bill Murray? Outstanding!

New ideas: I’m a sucker for redemption stories. How about Tender Mercies? Screenplay by Horton Foote. :) TX

“Camping isn’t for everyone including me,” LoL. Not ready for the zombie apocalypse, Clay?
An idea for FFF: underrated movies. Movies that didn’t do well critically or box-office, but were actually really good. I’d love to be in a FFF, either video or written. That’d be fun!

Say it ain’t so… you were using a Mac??

Looking forward to the pics and hearing more about the awesomeness of Creation.

  12. Ashley Nemit July 3, 2011 at 3:32 am #

My idea for the FFF is: historical flicks. It surprises me that you have not done that one, or maybe you have and I haven’t been following you long enough. Either way the amount of movies done on history from any time period is massive and could come to some interesting face-offs. : )

    • Ashley Nemit July 3, 2011 at 3:44 am #

Oh and one other one…a Tom Hanks FFF. Because let’s face it, who doesn’t love Tom Hanks.

      • The Good Greatsby July 4, 2011 at 10:48 am #

I second the Tom Hanks FFF. I recently looked at his list of movies and I liked or loved almost every single one. Who else can you say that about?

  13. Tiffany A White July 3, 2011 at 7:45 pm #

I have been camping once….and honestly, I had a great time even if it isn’t my scene.

For FFF – how about remake comparisons like The Manchurian Candidate or based on or adapted true crime screen plays like Zodiac, etc?

  14. Arty (Tinman) July 3, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

FFF – Movies with Robin Williams in them, such a variety…. Second would be Movies from SNL Actors after they left, Hey could come up with a bunch of those. Then there is always greatest lines from “My Cousin Vinny”.you knew that was coming..

  15. Marilag Lubag July 4, 2011 at 1:02 am #

    That’s dedication! Blogging while camping.

  16. Jess July 4, 2011 at 10:37 am #

I second Arty’s ideas! Those would be great!

    (Welcome home,Dude!)

  17. Larry Hehn July 4, 2011 at 7:51 pm #

Hmm…I’d like to have a stab at movies that feature Christopher Guest.
John Candy movies would be fun as well.
Refresh my memory…have we already done movies with a Canadian theme?
If not, I’d love to see that too. If we have, maybe we could do a sequel?
Hey, have we done great sequels yet?
    Ooh, the possibilities are endless!

    • educlaytion July 5, 2011 at 6:42 pm #

Leanne did Canadians in movies, but the category is certainly open for more! You’re welcome to a second go around my friend.
