A Young Lady’s Gift

For the past couple months I had planned on writing something for this Christmas weekend. I thought I might come up with something interesting and reflective, the kind of words that make ya think and feel good about yourself when that Christmas spirit softens us all a little bit.

But I’m not going to. The reason is a video I’d like you to watch in a moment.

My brother-in-law and sister’s niece Katie is a super gifted singer. She’s only in 7th grade yet just won a singing competition for performers across Southwestern Pennsylvania. In addition to a cash prize, Katie will be performing at First Night, a huge celebration in the city of Pittsburgh.

Her mom told me that the competition was open to boys and girls from 6th-12th grade. And Katie beat ‘em all! Everyone’s really proud of her and if you watch this video you’ll see why.

I hope every one of you have a fantastic weekend with your family and friends.

What’s your favorite Christmas song?

Beautiful! Katie most certainly has a wonderful gift.

My favorite Christmas song this year is “Winter Snow” by Audrey Assad and Chris Tomlin. Maybe ’cause I know a little more about winter snow. Or maybe just because it’s an incredible song. So peaceful.

    Merry Christmas, Clay!

    Congratulations to your sister’s niece.

Hope you had a great Christmas.

I’ve always liked Blue Christmas by Elvis or the Platters’ version of White Christmas.

Very good. She’s the kind of singer I end up sitting next to in church. They are so good I just clamp my mouth closed and listen. No one wants to hear me sing, trust me.

She is good. And Silent Night happens to be my favorite Christmas song.

She’s only in 7th grade? Insane!

I have many Christmas favorites but it doesn’t get better than O Holy Night.

I think that might be my favorite also Leigh. I must’ve listened to 10 different versions in 3 days. Love it.

Wow, that was beautiful! I love “Silent Night,” but I think my favorite is, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
